Dr. Fernando Enseñat

As Head of the Scholarship and Academic Development Committee, Dr. Enseñat is responsible for overseeing the allocation of merit-based scholarships to students and individuals who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, research excellence, and commitment to community engagement. These scholarships support a wide range of activities, including research across academic disciplines, training workshops, social media and journal editing, community education programs, and support for students at Maya University.

Dr. Enseñat holds a Master’s degree in Tourism Management and Planning from the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQÀM), Canada, and currently serves as a professor and researcher in the Undergraduate Tourism Program at the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY), Mexico.

His research focuses on the tourist use of cultural and natural heritage, with a particular emphasis on the impacts of over-visitation and the development of strategies to mitigate those effects. Dr. Enseñat has proposed and published a visitor flow management model designed to minimize the negative impacts of mass tourism at archaeological sites, contributing valuable insight to sustainable tourism planning in heritage-rich regions.
