Our Story
The Maya Heritage Centerâs symposium series began in 2016, born from a shared desire among regional researchers, educators, and community leaders to exchange ideas and address the challenges facing Maya heritage. We met again in 2017, and by the Symposium of CancĂșn in 2019 these gatherings became a tradition. In-person plans paused in 2020, and we adapted online in 2021. In 2023 and 2024 we celebrated achievements and collaboration, leading to broader institutional partnerships in 2025.
