Dr. Lilia Lizama

Dr. Lilia Lizama Executive Director, Founder

Dr. Lizama holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Quintana Roo, Mexico, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology from the Autonomous University of Yucatán. She currently serves as the Senior Representative for Central America and the Caribbean at the World Archaeological Congress (WAC).

Throughout her career, Dr. Lizama has collaborated extensively with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) in Mexico on numerous archaeological and cultural heritage projects. She is an active member of several professional and academic organizations, including the Historical Society of College Park, the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA), the Society for American Archaeology (SAA), and the American Cultural Resources Association (ACRA). She also serves as a board member at the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center of the Tifton Council for the Arts.

Dr. Lizama has co-authored publications in English, Spanish, and Mayan languages, reflecting her commitment to multilingual and inclusive scholarship. Her career has been defined by a deep and ongoing dedication to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage across the Americas.
