Dr. Ryan Rowberry serves as the President of our organization. He is a professor of property law at Georgia State University, where he currently holds the Janice C. Griffith Chair in Law. Dr. Rowberry has led numerous initiatives, conferences, and collaborations throughout the Caribbean and Mexico focused on the protection and preservation of cultural and historic resources.
In 2017, Dr. Rowberry authored a study on the legislative frameworks necessary for the sustainable protection of cultural heritage in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. His work proposed the development of heritage register laws and the creation of a financially sustainable heritage register as a foundational strategy for long-term preservation efforts.Â
Continuing this mission, in 2021, Dr. Rowberry and his students at Georgia State University examined the legal and organizational needs of Arqueólogos Sin Fronteras del Mundo Maya. They emphasized the importance of establishing a partner non-profit organization in the United States to support the group’s work. Their publication in our Journal included a step-by-step outline of the technical and legal process for forming a non-profit in the state of Georgia, serving as a practical guide for similar international collaborations.Â
